CHAPTER 354.

 

AN ACT to add two additional Sections to the
thirtieth Article of the Code of Public General
Laws, entitled, "Crimes and Punishments,"
relating to killing cattle.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That one section be added to the
thirtieth Article of the Code of Public General
Laws relating to Crimes and Punishments, as fol-
lows: Every person convicted of wilfully and
maliciously stabbing, killing or destroying any
bull, steer, cow, heifer, or calf, not the property of
such person, and not in the act of trespassing on
his enclosures, shall undergo confinement in the
penitentiary for not less than one year nor more
than four years.

Penalty for
killing.

Sec. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the day of its passage.

Approved April 4, 1870.

AN ACT of incorporation of the Howard Mutual
Life Insurance and Trust Company of Baltimore.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John R. Cox, Jacob H. Tay-
for, Thomas F. Troxel, William H. Trego, John
C. Bridges, P. Forney Spear, Samuel H. Geisey,
John J. Abrahams, George H. Berry, James G.
Ramsey, Oliver A. Parker, James Rodgers, jr.,
their associates and successors, and all others who
may hereafter become members of this Company,

Incorporation

as hereinafter provided, are hereby constituted a
body corporate by the name of the Howard Mutual
Life Insurance and Trust Company, of Baltimore,
and by that name may sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, appear, prosecute and defend suits
to final judgments and execution, in any courts

seal, and alter the same at pleasure, and may pur-
chase and hold and convey all such property, real,
