CHAPTER 330.

 

AN ACT to incorporate the Towsontown Gas Light
Company.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That O. P. Macgill, R. Grason, Hy.
L. Bowen, J. I. Fisher, Lewis Wheeler, Grafton
Bosley, P. de Murguiondo and all such persons as
shall associate with them, by becoming stockhold-
ers, in the manner hereinafter provided, their suc-
cessors and assigns, are hereby made and consti-
tuted a body politic and corporate, by the name,

style and title of the Towsontown Gas Light Com-
pany, and by that name shall have perpetual suc-
cession, and shall be capable in law to sue and be
sued, to plead and be impleaded, to answer and
be answered, in any Court of Law or Equity, to
make and use a common seal, and to alter the

Acts, and make all such agreements and contracts,
and to purchase, lease, hold, use and possess such
lands, tenements and hereditaments, goods and
chattels, as may be necessary for carrying on the
manufacture of, for procuring or collecting Gas,
or inflamable Air, and preserving, using and dis-
tributing the same, as the means of lighting the
public and private houses, streets, squares, lanes,
alleys and other places in the town of Towsontown
and its precincts, or for carrying on any manufac-
ture necessary for converting to useful purposes,

ployed in making or procuring Gas, and for dis-
posing of the same, and such other "purposes as
may be necessary to carry into effect the purposes
of this Act; provided, the said Company shall not
possess or hold at any one time, real and personal
estate together, above the value of one hundred
thousand dollars, without the consent of the Legis-
lature.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the seven per-
sons first above named, or a majority of them,
may cause books to be opened at such time and
places as they may direct, giving public notice
thereof, for at least twenty days, in some news-
paper printed and published in Baltimore county,
