Company, shall complete their bridge within three
years from the date of the passage of this Act, and
they, the said Berlin Bridge Company, shall for
such purpose have and enjoy all the powers and

Powers.

privileges heretofore enjoyed by the Loudon and
Berlin Bridge Company, otherwise this Act to be
void.

Rate of tolls.

Sec. 13. And be it further enacted, That it shall
he lawful for the said President and Directors, on
the completion of their bridge, to demand and re-
ceive the following tolls, to wit: Six-horse team,
one dollar and fifty cents ; five-horse team, one
dollar and forty cents; four-horse team, one dollar
and twenty-five cents; three-horse team, one dol-
lar; two-horse wagon or vehicle, eighty cents;

one-horse wagon or vehicle, sixty cents; one horse
and rider, thirty cents; one footman, twenty cents;

the above includes round trip, or one-half for cross-
ing from either side ;horses, ten cents ;cattle, five
cents; sheep and hogs, three cents per head, each
way.

In force.

Sec, 14. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 287.

 

AN ACT to repeal Section eight hundred and ten
of Article four of the Code of Public Local Laws
of the City of Baltimore, Chapter three hundred
and sixty-seven, passed at the January Session
eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, and re-enact
the same with amendments, so as to read, as
follows:

Employ police

810. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the said Board of Police Commis-
sioners be, and they are hereby authorized and re-
quired immediately on entering upon the duties of
their office, to appoint, enroll, and employ a per-
manent police force for the City of Baltimore,
which they shall arm and equip as they may judge
