LAWS OF MAETLAND.

 

CHAPTER 212.

AN ACT to enable the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore to endorse or guarantee the first
mortgage bonds of the Maryland Central Rail-
road Company to the amount of six hundred
thousand dollars.

City authori-
ties to endorse

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore be, and it is hereby authorized and em-
powered to endorse or guarantee the first mort-
gage bonds of the Maryland Central Railroad
Company to an amount not exceeding the sum of
six hundred thousand dollars, upon such terms and
conditions as may be determined upon by the said
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.

Ordinance ra-
tified.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That any ordi-
nance heretofore passed by the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, or which hereafter may be
passed for the purposes mentioned in the first sec-
tion of this Act be and the same is hereby ratified
and confirmed.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 4, 1870.

 

CHAPTER 213.

 

AN ACT to repeal an Act passed March seventh,
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, entitled, An
Act to appropriate a sum of money to be ex-
pended in removing the remains of the Confed-
erate dead who fell in the battles of South Moun-
tain, Crampton's Gap, Antietam and Monocacy.

WHEREAS, By an Act of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed January session, eighteen
hundred and sixty-eight, the sum of five thousand
dollars was appropriated to the removal and burial
of the Confederate dead who fell in the battles of
