CHAPTER 210.

 

AN ACT to Incorporate the Baltimore and Gal-
veston Steamship and Warehouse Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William T. Walters, Thomas

 

P. Williams, Samuel M. Shoemaker, Horatio D.
Whitridge, Wernel Dresel, William E. Hooper,
George Small, James G. Ramsey and John Wells
Hanson and such other person, or persons, who
may with them, or their successors, shall hereafter
shall become members of this association shall be
and they are hereby constituted and declared a
body corporate and politic by the name and style

Incorporation

of the Baltimore and Galveston Steamship and
Warehouse Company of Baltimore with perpetual
succession and by that name shall be capable in
law of acquiring, holding and disposing of pro-
perty, real, personal and mixed, and may buy and
sell, rent and lease, charter and hire, build and

cause to be built and repaired ships, steamers,
lighters, boats and other vessels, wharves, docks,
depots, elevators, warehouses, cotton presses and
such other buildings and works as they may deem
proper, and employ the same in the various branches
of business for which they were designed, they
shall have and use a common seal which they may
alter and renew at pleasure. And in their corpo-
rate name may sue and be sued, answer and defend

in all Courts of law and equity, and may make,
execute and deliver, or cause to be made, executed
and delivered to them, all deeds or papers in due
form of gifts, grants, transfers, conveyances, cove-
nants, contracts and agreements whatsoever, that
may and shall bo for the use and purposes of the
said Company.

Powers.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany shall have power to charge and collect such
rates of compensation as may be customary in the
City of Baltimore and elsewhere, or as shall be
fixed by any contract or agreement for the use of
their ships, steamers, lighters, boats, or other ves-
sels, wharves, docks, depots, elevators, warehouses,
cotton presses and such other buildings or works
and other property, which may be owned by, or
