CHAPTER 161.

 

AN ACT to incorporate the Saint James and Elli-
cott's City Turnpike Company.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John R. Brown, Henry Ha-
zelhurst, John W. Dorsey, Dorsey Thompson,
Joseph Maguire, Anthony M. Johnson, Joseph
Hunt, Upton W. Dorsey, William Frost, Richard
Davis, Samuel Brown, Joseph Judike, M. H. Her-
bert, David Feelemeyer, Gilbert E. Fowler, Wil-
liam Davis, Isaac C. Anderson, Jun'r, A. E.
Shipley, Charles Martin, and Joseph Barlow be,
and they are hereby appointed commissioners to
take subscriptions to the capital stock of the Saint
James and Ellicott's City Turnpike Company,
hereby incorporated, and they or a majority of

them may cause books to be opened at such times
and places, and for such period or periods, upon
giving notice as they deem expedient, of the times
and places of opening the same, and if any of the
commissioners shall die, resign or refuse to act,

to said stock, their successors and assigns, shall be,
and they are hereby declared to be incorporated
into a company by the name of the Saint James
and Ellicott's City Turnpike Company, and by
that name shall be capable in law of purchasing,
holding, selling, leasing and conveyingestates, real,
personal and mixed, so far as may be necessary for
the purpose hereinafter mentioned, and no further,
and shall have succession, and by said corporate
