meetings of the Board of Directors, and have a
vote; provided, that nothing herein contained
shall prevent a majority of the Board of Directors,
in the absence of the President, from transacting
business at any meeting by the election of a chair-
man pro tempore; that the said President and
Directors, or a majority of them, shall have power
to purchase with the funds of said Company, and
to place on any railroad constructed by them under
this Act all machines, wagons, vehicles, or car-

riages, of any description whatever, which they
may deem necessary or proper, and they shall have
power to charge for tolls upon and the transporta-
tion of persons, goods, produce, merchandise or
property of any kind whatsoever transported by
them along said Railroad, for all freights not ex-
ceeding twelve cents per ton per mile, which shall
he in full for all tolls and transportation of freight,
and for the transportation of passengers not ex-
ceeding six cents per mile for each passenger and
baggage not weighing more than fifty pounds.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 107.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay
the Electors of President and Vice-President of
the United States, in and for the State of Mary-
land, their officers and attendants.
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of five hundred dol-
lars, ($500.00,) or so much thereof as may be
necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated
to pay the per diem and mileage of the Electors of
President and Vice-President of the United States,
in and for the State of Maryland, their officers
and attendants.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the Comptroller
of the Treasury is hereby directed to issue his
warrant upon the certificate of the President and
