CHAPTER 45.

AN ACT to repeal Section six hundred and nine-
teen of Article four of the Public Local Laws,
entitled City of Baltimore, sub-title "Justices
of the Peace and Constables," and to re-enact
the same so as to read as follows:

Repealed and
re-enacted.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section six hundred and nine-
teen of Article four of the Public Local Laws, en-
titled "City of Baltimore," sub-title " Justices of
the Peace and Constables," be, and the same is
hereby repealsd and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

619. The Governor of the State, by and with
the advice and consent of the Senate, shall at the
time designated by law, appoint two Justices of
the Peace for each of the several wards of Balti-
more City and in addition thereto four Justices of
the Peace for the City of Baltimore at large, and
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore are here-
by authorized and empowered to appoint two Con-

stables for each of the several wards of Baltimore
City, and in addition thereto four Constables at
large for the said city, who shall hold their offices
for two years from the date of their appointment
and until their successors in office are duly ap-
pointed and qualified, and the said Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore be, and they are hereby au-
thorized to make the appointment directed by this
Act on the fourth Monday in March eighteen hun-
dred and seventy and on the said fourth Monday
in March of every second year thereafter.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from its passage.
