On motion by Mr. Stephenson,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment.

STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 12,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I nominate Thomas E. Parlett, Auctioneer, in the City of
Baltimore.
ODEN BOWIE.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment, agreeably to the nomination.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

The Senate resumed the consideration of legislative busi-
ness.

THURSDAY, March 17,1870.

The following communications, which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of R. C.
Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read:
