FRIDAY, April 1,1870.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Present at roll call, the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Clarke, Earle, Fields,
Henkle, Henry, Hyland, Jump, Kimmel, Maddox, Malone.,
Miller. Bellman, Snyder, Spates, Stephenson, Timmons,
Welch/Wilson— 21.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Mr. Kimmel call up for consideration the House bill en-
titled an Act to amend chapter 241, of the Acts of 1867, by
inserting an additional section to be substituted for section 8,.
and make the present section 8 to number 9.

The question being upon the amendments submitted by
the Committee on Judicial Proceedings, March 31st.

Said amendments were read and concurred, in and the bill
read the second time.

Mr. Henry, from the Select Committee, to whom was re-
ferred. House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the Governor to appoint an additional Justice of the Peace
for the 1st election district of Dorchester county, reported it
with the following amendment:

Strike out the title of the bill, and insert in lieu thereof
the following title, viz :

A bill entitled an Act to authorize the appointment of two
additional Justices of the Peace for Dorchester county.

Which was read and adopted.
Said bill was then read the second time.

Mr.. Timmons, from the Select Committee, to whom was
referred House bill entitled an Act to amend, and re-enact
section 89, of Article 22, of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Worcester county, relating to the protection of fish in
Synepuxent bay in Worcester county, reporter it without
amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to declare the sanction of the
General Assembly to the bequest of David Smith, late of
Worcester county, deceased, to the Committee of Pitt's Creek
Church in said county, reported it without amendment.
