the condition of the Public Schools of the State,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
the third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act for the relief of J. B. Ma-
gruder, late Inspector of Tobacco, at warehouse No. 1, and
of persons employed under him in said warehouse,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
the third reading.

On motion by Mr. Clarke, it was

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourn to-night, it shall
adjourn to 10 o'clock to-morrow morning, in order to take up
Senate bills on third reading, and receive reports from Stand-
ing and Select Committees.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 75, sec-
tion 23, of the Code of Public General Laws, of the State of
Maryland, relating to amendment of proceedings in actions
at law,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to empower all persons,
owners of water privileges or owners of lands along the waters
of Antietam creek, in Washington county, or other waters
of the State, &c.,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
the third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 10, of the
Code of Public General Laws, title, "Attachments," byadd-
ing an additional section thereto, authorizing attachments
under certain limitations where a debt is not due,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
the third reading.

The House bill entitled an Act to ratify the action of the
Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, authorizing Jones'
alley to be closed,
Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays, as

follows:
