The Senate was called, and the Sergeant-at-Arms directed

to wait upon absent Senators and inform them that their attendance
was required in the Senate Chamber.

On motion by Mr. Stephenson,
Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

Mr. Stephenson moved a suspension of the rules in order
to give the Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Gov-
ernor to appoint an additional Justice of the Peace in the
2nd district of Harford county, the second reading.

The yeas and nays were called as required by section 27,

of Article 3, of the Constitution and appeared, as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Malone,
Biggs, Miller,
Carroll, Parker,
Clarke, Sellman,
Denson, Snyder,
Fields, Spates,
Henry, Stephenson,
Hyland, Welch,
Jump, Wilson—18.

NEGATIVE.—None.

So two-thirds of all the Senators elected having voted in

the affirmative,

Said bill was read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the How-
ard Mutual Life Insurance and Trust Company of Balti-

more,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for

a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Wilson, and by unanimous consent,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to

report a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Huntingdon
Manufacturing and Building Company, in Prince George's
county.

The House bill entitled a supplement to the Act entitled
,an Act to incorporate the Frederick and Emmittsburg Turn-
pike Company, passed at December session, 1844, chapter
136,

Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays, as
