Said bill as amended was then read the second time, and
ordered to beengrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Timmons, from the Select Committee to whom the
leave was granted, reported a bill entitled, an Act to change
the name of Sandy Hill, in the 8th election district of Wor-
cester county, to the name of Stockton.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Clarke, from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled, an Act to repeal the
Act of the Public Local Laws, passed February 27th, 1841,
chapter 137, relating to the division line of the 5th election
district of Baltimore county, and re-enact the same with
amendments.
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Kimmel submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

February 12,1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing the appoint-
ment of a Joint Special Committee, to request his Excellency,
the Governor, to extend an invitation to the Hon. Horatio
Seymour, Hon. R. B. Rosevelt, and Seth Green, Esq., to
visit Annapolis and address the Legislature upon the subject'
of fish, their cultivation, preservation, &c., and respectfully
concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Kimmel and Browne.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. Spates, from the Committee of Conference on House
Bill entitled an Act to change the name of the Mutual Coal
Company of Allegany county, &c., submitted the following

REPORT.

The Committee of Conference of the Senate and House of
Delegates upon the House bill entitled an Act to change the
name of the Mutual Goal Company of Allegany county, and
to confirm a decree of the Circuit Court of Allegany county,
changing said name, beg leave to report that—

The Constitution of 1851 had this provision : "Every law
enacted by the Legislature shall embrace but one subject,
