TUESDAY, February 8, 1870,
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call, the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Biggs, Carroll, Clarke, Denson, Earle,
Grove, Henkle, Henry, Hyland, Jump, Malone, Miller,
Parker, Sellman, Snyder, Spates, Stephenson, Timmons,
Welch, Wilson—21.

Mr. Miller presented the petition of citizens of Cecil county,
relating to tax on billiard tables by way of license.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Mr. Welch presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Kent county praying the passage of a law to prevent, by se-
vere penalties, the use of Splash-nets or Seines within the
waters of Lloyd's Creek, between the 10th of October and the
10th of April.

Which, was read and referred to Senators Welch, Earle
and Heary.

Mr. Denson presented the petition of the Powhatan Steam-
boat Company praying for an extension of its charter.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

The President laid before the Senate the following com-
munication from Adjutant General Bier, in response to an
order of the Senate :

ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE.

Baltimore, Feb'y 5th, 1870.
The Honorable,

The Senate of Maryland,

Gentlemen ;—In obedience to your order of the 1st inst., 1
have the honor to transmit the accompanying statement,
showing the Ordnance and Ordnance Stores received, issued
and remaining on hand, and the price paid for storage of the
same.
