Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

The President announced that the hour had arrived for the
election of State Treasurer.

Mr. Snyder nominated Joshua Vansant.
Mr. Henkle nominated John Merryman.
Mr. Fields nominated Robert Fowler.
Mr. Stephenson nominated W. F. Pannell.

Senators proceeded to deposit their ballots in the bal-
lot box, which was delivered to Senators Snyder and Clarke,
who conjointly with the Committee from the House, retired
to count the ballots.

Mr. Grove presented the petition of Andrew Brown, a deaf.
mute.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Finance.

On motion by Mr. Grove,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to in-
troduce a bill to give full authority to the Trustees or Mana-
gers of the Asylum for Mutes, at Frederick city, Maryland,
to receive Andrew Brown, a mute.

On motion by Mr. Timmons,

Leave was granted to Senators Timmons, Hyland and
Henry to introduce a bill to exempt Worcester county from
the effect of the second section, chapter 31, of the laws passed
January session, 1865, in regard to the publication of the
local laws for said county.

On motion by Mr. Timmons,

Leave was granted to Senators Timmons, Hyland and Henry
to introduce a bill, to be entitled an Act to repeal section 1,
of Article 22, of the Public Local Laws, relating to the alms-
house of Worcester county, and to enact a substitute there-
for.

On motion by Mr. Maddox;

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to in-
troduce a bill for the benefit of agriculture, by securing the
venders of manures.

On motion by Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That the Comptroller report to the Senate, at the
earliest practicable day, the number and amount of claims
