So the motion to reconsider was decided in the negative.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to ap-
point Commissioners to examine the fisheries of the State
with a view to their improvement and protection, and to re-
report thereon to the next General Assembly, and to appro-
priate a sum of money to defray the expense thereof.

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Gorman submitted the following amendment:

Section 3, line, strike out the words "one thousand" and
insert the words: five hundred.

Which was rejected.

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed tor a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the town of Jeru-
salem, in Washington county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Commissioners of
Calvert county to subscribe in behalf of said county to the
capital stock of the Baltimore and Drum Point Railroad
Company, and issue bonds for the same, and provide for their
redemption,

Being upon a second reading,

On motion of Mr. Duke,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to repeal section 18 of Article 73, of the Public
General Lawa, entitled Penitentiary," and to re-enact the
same with amendments,

Said bill being upon its passage,
