1116 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 29,

titled an Act to provide for maintaining and keeping in re-
pair the public roads in Prince George's county.

Said bill was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Choate,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to prohibit stock from running at large in and
around Pikesville, in Baltimore county.

Said bill was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Merrick,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to repeal an Act passed January session, 186 8,
relating to registration of voters, and to re-enact other pro-
visions in lieu thereof.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Gatch submitted the following amendment:

Section 2, strike out all after the word "appoint," to the
word "and inclusive, and add at the end of section: and
the present Officers of Registration shall serve out the full
term for which they were severally appointed.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Neill submitted the following amendment:

Section 5, line 3, strike out the word "three," and insert
the word four.

Which was rejected.

Mr. McLane submitted the following amendment:

Section 5, strike out all after the word "thereafter" in
line 5, down to the word "thereof" (inclusive) in line 8, and
insert: at some convenient place to the voters in the several
wards of the City of Baltimore and the several election dis-
tricts of the counties.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Morse submitted the following amendment:

Section 5, line 9, after the words "nine o'clock," insert the
letters A. M.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment;

Section 5, line 11, strikeout the words "two newspapers,"
and insert the words : one newspaper.

Which was adopted.
