1110 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 29,

Mr. Choate submitted the following amendment:

Section 12, strike out all after the word "him," in line
2, to the end of the section.

Which was rejected.

Mr.......... submitted the following amendment:

Section 12, add at end thereof: except all dogs over ten
years of age.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel. submitted the following
amendment:

Add the following as a new section, to take the place of
section 13, and make section 13 read 14:

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That any person who shall
steal or kill a dog, except as provided for in the previous sec-
tion, without permission of the owner, upon which the tax
has been paid in accordance with the provisions of this Act,
shall be liable to a fine of not less than ten dollars or more
than twenty dollars, in addition to his common liability,
to be recovered by an action of debt in the name of the Coun-
ty Commissioners, to be appropriated, one-half to said fund
and the other half to the owner.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Ady submitted the following amendment:

Amend by adding the following after section 12, to read
section 13:

SEC. 13. And be it enacted. That each household in this
State shall be entitled to have one dog, which shall be free
from taxation, anything in this law to the contrary notwith-
standing.

Which was rejected.

The bill, as amended, was then read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Marbury,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to provide for maintaining and keeping in re-
pair the public roads of Prince George's county.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Kirk, (the rules being suspended,)
