Maryland Manual 1994-1995
Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, is located at Char-
lotte Hall, St. Mary's County. The domiciliary and
residential care wing opened in January 1985, fol-
lowed in March 1986 by the comprehensive nursing
care wing.
The Commission maintains, manages, and gov-
erns Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Applications
for residency in the Home may be secured from the
Commission or Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.
The Commission consists of fifteen members.
Four serve ex officio. Eleven are appointed to four-
year terms by the Governor with Senate advice and
consent (Code State Government Article, secs. 9-
917 through 9-930).

Established in 1782, Washington College is a
coeducational liberal arts and sciences college
(Chapter 8, Acts of April Session 1782).
The College is governed by a board of thirty-
seven members named The Visitors and Governors
of Washington College in the State of Maryland.
The Governor appoints twelve members. Alumni
of the College elect twelve additional members, and
the Board of Visitors and Governors itself selects
another twelve. Elected by the Board, the final
