dean. In 1959, it was renamed University College.
In 1970, the College was designated as one of five
major University of Maryland campuses headed by
a chancellor.
University College extends the resources of the
University of Maryland System to over 14,300
adult, part-time students throughout the State and
around the world. It offers programs for the bache-
lor's and master's degrees, and noncredit profes-
sional development. The curriculum, class
schedules, registration procedures, and comprehen-
sive student services all have been designed to create
an academic environment that supports and en-
courages the educational goals of working adults.
Evening and weekend classes meet at more than
25 locations throughout Maryland, the District of
Columbia, and Virginia. The European and Asian
divisions conduct degree programs for U.S. military
personnel and their families at over 200 locations
in twenty-two countries.
