The Division of Administration was formed in
1970 to provide administrative support and infor-
mation processing services to the Maryland Trans-
portation Authority.

DIVISION OF FINANCE

The Division of Finance was created in 1970 to
support the financial functions of the Transporta-
tion Authority.

CAPITAL & STATEWIDE PROGRAMS
DIVISION

Within the Mass Transit Administration, the Divi-
sion was reorganized as the Office of Planning and
Programming in 1993.

COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT

Under the Mass Transit Administration, the De-
partment was renamed the Office of Media and
Public Relations in 1993

DEVELOPMENT

Formerly under the Maryland Port Administration,
Development ceased to function in 1992, when its
departments were reassigned to other agencies
within the Administration.

OFFICE OF TRAFFIC

Under the Office of Chief Engineer within the State
Highway Administration, the Office was reorgan-
ized as the Office of Traffic and Safety in 1991.

SAFETY DEPARTMENT

Within the Mass Transit Administration, the Divi-
sion was abolished in 1992.

STATE RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION

Abolished in 1992; functions transferred to Mass
Transit Administration (Chapter 127, Acts of
1992).

TOLL FACILITIES POLICE

Redesignated as the Maryland Transportation
Authority Police in 1993 (Chapter 626, Acts of
1993).

TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Under the Mass Transit Administration, the Divi-
sion was reorganized as the Office of Engineering
in 1993.
