The Secretary serves on numerous boards and
commissions, among which are the Alcohol
Beverage Committee and the Apartment/Office
Building Association. He has served as President
and continues as a board member of the Business
and Industry Advisory Council to the Prince
George's County School System, and as Director of
The First American Bank of Maryland. Until his
appointment as Secretary of State, he served as a
board member of the Maryland State Chamber of
Commerce.

Secretary Kelly is a member of the Knights of
Columbus. He also has served as Lector and Cantor
at St. Jerome's Catholic Church.
The recipient of many awards, Mr. Kelly was
selected as Jaycee International Senator, the highest
award of the Jaycee organization. He was chosen
one of the five outstanding young Marylanders. He
also was recognized by C & P Telephone Company
for its annual Citizenship Award, by the Prince
George's County Human Relations Commission
for its Community Service Award, and in 1988 by
the Prince George's Chamber of Commerce for its
Prince Georgean of the Year Award.
Secretary Kelly is married to the former Barbara
Doolittle. They have seven children and ten
grandchildren. The Kellys reside in Mitchellville,
Maryland.
