Every four years, the Governor appoints three
Commissioners who represent Maryland in the Na-
tional Conference of Commissioners on Uniform
State Laws. The Commissioners serve on commit-
|
tees that draft laws for submission to the legislatures
of the several states and recommend measures to
promote uniform legislation.

Created in December 1988 by the Senate President
and the Speaker of the House of Delegates, the
Special Joint Committee on the Patuxent Institu-
tion studied problems with the leave and parole
policy of the Patuxent Institution and concluded its
work in January 1989.
