range of veterans' benefit entitlements enumerated
by federal, State, and local agencies. The Commis-
sion manages and operates authorized Maryland
State Veterans Cemeteries, including a Civil War
cemetery located in Washington County; and pro-
vides staff support and assistance to the Maryland
Veterans Home Commission, the Korean War Me-
morial Commission, and the Maryland Vietnam
Veterans Memorial Commission.
The Commission prepares and issues booklets,
brochures, and flyers enumerating the various fed-
eral, State, and local benefits available to veterans.
Distributed by selected State agencies and by all
State veterans organizations, these publications are
available to the public.
The Commission is composed of twenty-three
Maryland veterans appointed to seven-year terms
by the Governor. The chairperson of the Maryland
Veterans Home Commission serves as a member,
each congressional district is represented by one
member, and one member serves at large. Of the
remaining members, one each is appointed from the
following: American Legion; Disabled American
Veterans; Catholic War Veterans; AMVETS; Jew-
ish War Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Veter-
ans of World War I; Maryland Retired Officers
Association; Marine Corps League; Polish-Ameri-
can War Veterans; Fleet Reserve Association; Mili-
tary Order of the Purple Heart; American
Ex-Prisoners of War, Inc.; and Vietnam Veterans of
America. The Governor designates the chairperson.
The Commission appoints the Director (Code State
Government Article, secs. 9-904 through 9-914).

Maryland veterans, their dependents, and survivors

achieve these purposes, the Program operates vet-
