CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS

Maryland retained eight seats in the U.S. House of Representatives with the 1980 census. One repre-
sentative is elected from each of the eight congressional districts. In the description of district bounda-
ries, all references to election districts, wards, and precincts are to the geographical boundaries as they
existed on June 1, 1981. Precinct boundaries are dynamic. Changes occur to reflect population shifts
and to ensure convenient polling places for all voters. Local election boards can provide current infor-
mation on precincts encompassed within each congressional district. Maryland's congressional districts
