The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit
Regulation Compact Review Committee was
formed in 1985 at the request of the Maryland
General Assembly (Joint Resolution no. 29, Acts
of 1985). Representing Washington, D.C., Virgin-
ia, and Maryland, Committee members are to re-
view provisions of the Washington Metropolitan
Area Transit Regulation Compact, which Mary-
land ratified in 1959 (Chapter 613, Acts of 1959).
The review will include provisions relating to car-
riers under the jurisdiction of the Washington
Metropolitan Area Transit Commission.

VEHICLE EQUIPMENT SAFETY
COMMISSION

In 1986, authorization for Maryland's
participation in the Vehicle Equipment Safety
Compact and the Vehicle Equipment Safety
Commission was repealed (Chapter 174, Acts of
1986).
