Each of the three participating agencies fur-
nishes staff to the Committee. The Executive
Director is appointed by and works under the
direction of the Committee. The Executive Direc-
tor and the business operations staff are employees
of the Board of Public Works. A representative
from the State Fire Marshal's office also is assigned
to the Committee.

The Council advises the Board of Public Works
on the impact of State Programs on the City of
Annapolis and its immediate environs with a view
toward the enhancement and preservation of the
Annapolis area. With the approval of the Board of
Public Works, the Council acts in matters involv-
ing the acquisition, management, and disposition
of any real property where the purpose of the
State's involvement is to enhance or protect the
character of the Annapolis area. The Council's
charge also includes managing and maintaining the
Paca House and Gardens in Annapolis. The chair-
person of the Council is appointed by the Board of
Public Works (Code State Government Article,
secs. 9-701 through 9-709).

Committee, which consists of three ex officio

and the amount of the bonds of all State officers
and employees who are required to be bonded. The
Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for
keeping records of bonded State officers and
employees (Code 1957, Art. 78A, secs. 46-50).

The State House Trust was created by Chapter
199, Acts of 1969. The Trust supervises the use of,
exhibits in, and all improvements, alterations,
additions, landscaping, and repairs to the State
House and to the buildings and grounds within the
area known as State Circle in Annapolis.
The Trust consists of four ex officio members or
their designees who act as the trustees and from
one to three non-voting associates who are quali-
fied by experience and interest in historical preser-
vation. The Trust retains an architect as a
consultant (Code State Government Article, secs.
9-501 through 9-506).
