The Governor originally appointed this commis-
sion in 1970 at the request of the General Assem-
bly (Joint Resolution no. 46, Acts of 1970). The
Commission studies current State and local laws,
ordinances, and regulations in the areas of land-
lord-tenant law to formulate an all-encompassing
revision and consolidation of Landlord-Tenant
Law in Maryland.

The Maryland Marathon Planning Committee
orginally was created by the Governor in 1972 to
plan the first Maryland Marathon for 1973. Ap-
pointed by the Governor, the Committee now
plans and executes each Maryland Marathon.
The Maryland Marathon is a long-distance race
for runners held annually in Baltimore. Normally,
the event is scheduled for the last Sunday of
November or the first Sunday of December.

At the request of the General Assembly, the
Governor established this commission in Novem-
ber 1984 (Joint Resolution no. 20, Acts of 1984).
The Commission is to study ways to facilitate

needed liver and other anatomical organ trans-
plants.
By January 1985, the Commission will report its
findings to the Governor and General Assembly.

By executive order, the Governor created the
Governor's Commission to Revise the Mental
Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Laws
in February 1984.
The Commission is to examine laws governing or
relating to services to developmentally disabled
citizens. By May 1, 1985, it shall recommend to the
Governor an appropriate definition of developmen-
tal disability to be included in subsequent legisla-
tion revising Title 7 of the Health-General Article
of the Annotated Code. The Commission's com-
plete recommendations are to be submitted to the
Governor by September 1, 1985.
The Commission also serves as the Advisory
Council to the Mental Retardation and Develop-
mental Disabilities Administration for the adminis-
tration and conduct of the Developmental Disabili-
ties Demonstration Project by the University of
Maryland Medical School at the Walter P. Carter
Center.
