In Baltimore City and in each county there is a
local department of social services whose director
administers these public assistance activities sub-
ject to the supervision, direction, and control of the
Income Maintenance Administration.

Six major units are included in the Administra-
tion: the Offices of Public Assistance, Administra-
tive Services, Program Integrity, Program Support,
Corrective Action, and Legislative and Audit Liai-
son. The Administration also includes Fair Hear-
ings, Quality Control, and Special Investigations
units.

The Executive Director is appointed by the
Secretary of Human Resources.
