Liquor Control Board: Consists of three members
appointed by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Senate for two years, except in
Garrett, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Somerset,
and Worcester counties. In Garrett County
members of the Board (known as the Board of
License Commissioners) are appointed by the
Governor for six-year terms. If there is no resi-
dent Senator elected ' from Garrett County,
appointments are confirmed by the House of
Delegates. In Harford County members of the
Board (known as the Board of License Commis-
sioners) are appointed by the County Executive
with County Council advice and consent for
three-year terms. In Kent County the County
Commissioners are ex officio members of the
Board. In Montgomery County the Board is
called the Department of Liquor Control, the di-
rector of which is appointed by the County Exec-
utive with County Council approval. An advisory
board to the department consists of five members
appointed and removable by the County Execu-
tive with County Council approval for four-year
terms. In Somerset County members are
appointed by the Governor for four-year terms.
In Worcester County members are appointed for
four-year terms (Code 1957, Art. 2B, sec. 159).
Extension Agents: Appointed by the Cooperative
Extension Service of the University of Maryland
for indefinite terms.
Soil Conservation District Supervisors: Consists of
five members, of whom the county governing
body appoints one who serves at the pleasure of
the governing body. The remaining four members
are appointed by the State Soil Conservation
Committee from the residents of the District, One
is appointed from a list submitted by the County
Farm Bureau and three are appointed from a list
submitted by the County Extension Service. Two
represent the District at large. The terms of the
four members who are not appointed by the
governing body of the county are for four years
(Agriculture Article, sees. 8-301 and 8-302).
