The Board of Examiners of Maryland Pilots,
created by Chapter 575, Acts of 1969, consists of
four members appointed by the Governor with
the advice of the Secretary of Licensing and Reg-
ulation for twfi-year terms. Two of the appointed
members must be actively engaged in the owner-
ship, operation, or management of oceangoing
vessels required to employ pilots licensed under
Art. 74. These members cannot ever have held a
master's or pilot's license. Two members must be
licensed as pilots for at least five years prior to
their appointment. A designee of the Secretary of
Transportation, the President of the Baltimore
Chamber of Commerce, and the President of the
Association of Maryland Pilots serve as ex officio
members. The Board establishes rates, pilotage
fees, and charges (Code 1957, Art. 74, sees. 1-20).

The Board of Examining Moving Picture Ma-
chine Operators, created by Chapter 693, Acts of
1910, consists of three members appointed by the
Governor with the advice of the Secretary of Li-
censing and Regulation for two-year terms. One
member must be from the Maryland Fire Under-
writers Rating Bureau, one must be a licensed
moving picture machine operator and a member
of the Moving Picture Operators' Union, and the
third must be an exhibitor licensed to operate
motion picture machines. All members must have
had at least three years experience in this business
and must have resided in Baltimore City for at
least two years immediately before their appoint-
ments (Chapter 216, Acts of 1949).
The Board examines, licenses, and supervises
operators of moving picture machines in
Baltimore City only. Applicants are eligible for
examination after six months work under a li-
censed operator, and examinations are both
written and practical. The Board has power to
suspend and revoke licenses, which must be re-
newed annually. It must meet at least once a
month.

The Maryland State Board of Examiners of
Landscape Architects was established by Chap-
ter 645, Acts of 1971. The Board consists of
three members appointed by the Governor
upon the recommendation of the Secretary of
Licensing and Regulation with the advice and
consent of the Senate for three-year terms. The
Board chooses its own officers. Members must
be registered landscape architects of recognized
standing and must have engaged in the practice
of landscape architecture in Maryland for at
least five years prior to their appointment. The
Board licenses landscape architects who desire
to practice in Maryland. It holds examinations
at least once a year and determines who may
be exempt from the provisions of the law. It
may hold other meetings and hearings as re-
quired. The Board became a part of the De-
partment of Licensing and Regulation by Sec-
tion 5, Chapter 4, Acts of the Special Session
of 1973 (Code 1957, Art. 56, sec. 277a).
