Hairdressers and Beauty Culturists, received its
present name by Chapter 278, Acts of 1961.
The Board consists of five members appointed
by the Governor with the advice of the Secre-
tary of Licensing and Regulation for three-year
terms. Three members of the Board must have
had at least five years practical experience in
hairdressing or beauty culture. They may not
be affiliated with any firm manufacturing or
selling any merchandise or commodity used in
beauty shops, nor be directly or indirectly con-
nected with any school of beauty culture. No
two members shall serve at the same time who
are graduates of the same school of beauty cul-
ture.
The Board examines, licenses, and regulates all
persons engaged in the operation, practice, and
teaching of beauty culture within the State of
Maryland. The Board holds regular meetings
each Tuesday of the year and conducts
examinations at least twice weekly throughout the
year in Baltimore City (Code 1957, Art. 43, sees.
529-555).

"The Board of Electrical Examiners and Su-
pervisors, established in 1906, consists of five
members appointed by the Governor with the
advice of the Secretary of Licensing and Regu-
lation for two-year terms. Three members of
the Board are practical electricians licensed in
the City of Baltimore, one of whom is a mem-
ber of the International Brotherhood of Electri-
cal Workers of Maryland. The other two
members represent the general public. All
members of the Board must be residents of
Baltimore City. The Board examines all persons
for certificates of proficiency as master electri-
cian. No one may install electrical lighting or
wiring, or conductors for electrical light, heat,
or power except under the supervision of a li-
censed master electrician. The Board also
adopts regulations for placing, installing, and
operating electrical wires, appliances, and appa-
ratus in Baltimore City (Public Local Laws of
Baltimore City, 1969, Art. 3, sees. 1-18).

The Board of Examining Engineers, established
by Chapter 448, Acts of 1892, had its member-
ship altered by Chapter 599, Acts of 1966. The
Board now consists of five members and a Secre-
tary, all appointed by the Governor with the ad-
vice of the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation
for two-year terms. Three members must have
had experience operating steam engines, boilers,
and stationary or portable engines. The Board
examines applicants for certificates of proficiency
to operate stationary or portable engines in
Baltimore City, and all such certificates must
come before the Board for renewal each year. The
Board also periodically inspects all industries and
places of business where licensed engineers are
employed to ensure compliance with the law
(Public Local Laws of Baltimore City, 1969, Art.
4, sees. 1-6).

The State Board of Registration for Foresters,
created by Chapter 638, Acts of 1972, examines
licenses and registers persons wishing to engage
in the practice of forestry in Maryland.
The Board consists of seven members
appointed by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Senate for five-year terms. Five
members must be Registered Professional
Foresters and are appointed from a list of ten
nominees recommended by the Maryland Chap-
ter, Society of American Foresters. They must
have engaged in the practice of forestry for at
least ten years prior to their appointment. The
Board selects its own officers.
