TYRAS S. ATHEY, Democrat, District 32; born in Burtonsville,
Montgomery County, March 30, 1927. Attended Montgomery
County public schools. Served in the U.S. Navy, 1945-47. Charter
member, Odenton Chamber of Commerce; Burtonsville Fire De-
partment. Past president, Waterloo Lions Club. Former Director,
Jessup Volunteer Fire Department. Director, Anne Arundel
County Community Chest. Member, Glen Burnie Elks; Laurel
Moose. Member, V.F.W. Represents Maryland House of Dele-
gates on the Environmental Quality Committee to the Council of
State Governments. Married. Member of the House of Delegates
since 1967.
R. CHARLES AVARA, Democrat, District 37; born in Baltimore,
January II, 1932. Attended Baltimore public schools. Owner and
administrator of private trade school and supply house. Served in
the U.S. Navy, 1953-56. Chairman, Special Committee on School
Pupil Transportation. Member, Special Committee to Set Police
Department Standards; Governor's Commission on Law Enforce-
ment and Administration of Justice; Special High Impact Courts
Committee; Mayor's Coordinating Council on Criminal Justice.

able, Sons of Italy. Delegate to AFL-CIO. Married. Member of

HAROLD L. BACHMAN. Democrat, District 31; born in Balti-
more, January 9, 1918. Attended Baltimore public schools; Balti-
more College of Commerce. Owner of tailoring company Served
in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Member and past
president. Lake Shore Democratic Club. Member, Roland Terrace
Democratic Club; Stoney Creek Democratic Club; American
Legion. Member and past president, The Beach Club Socials, Inc.
Married. Member of the House of Delegates since 1975.
PETER J. BASILONE. Democrat, District 7; born in Farrell, Pa.,
May 13, 1920. Attended Farrell, Pa. public schools; Dundalk
Junior College. Assistant Chief Register of Wills for Baltimore
County. Served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mem-
ber, Rosedale Democratic Club. President, Eastern Baltimore
County Democratic Club and Civic Association. Past president,
Baltimore Businessmen's Association; Baltimore County Tavern
