The Governor appointed this Task Force
in 1975 to investigate the desirability,
method, costs and effects of unifying the
court system and to investigate and make
recommendations with respect to the ade-
quacies of existing courthouse facilities and
need for improvements. The Task Force
consists of members of the General Assem-
bly, judges, clerks of the various courts,
attorneys, members of law school faculties,
and representatives of the Executive and
Judicial Branches of the State government.
The Task Force is continuing its in-
vestigations.

The Governor appointed this Task Force
in 1976 at the request of the General As-
sembly to study the economic, environmen-
tal and other forms of impact on mandatory
deposits on beverage containers. The Task
Force consists of two representatives of in-
dustries engaged in the production of metal
beverage containers, two representatives of |
industries engaged in bottling and distribut-
ing carbonated soft drinks, one representing
industries engaged in the distribution of
beer and malt beverages to dealers, three
representatives of organizations involved in
the retail sales of beverages or in the man-
ufacture of glass or metal beverage con-
tainers, two representatives of retail food
sales agencies, eleven representatives of en-
vironmental organizations, and seven ex
officio members including two members of
the General Assembly, and the general pub-
lic. The Task Force is to report its findings
by January 1, 1977 (Res. No. 70, Acts
of 1976).

The Governor appointed this Committee
in 1976 at the request of the General As-
sembly. The Committee consists of the
Comptroller of the Treasury, the Chancellor
of the University of Maryland, Baltimore
' City Campus, the Legislative Auditor, a rep-
, resentative of the medical profession, a
member of each house of the General As-
sembly, and a private citizen. The Secretary
; of Budget and Fiscal Planning serves as the
- Executive Director. The Committee is to
- study cost reduction measures to implement
i the proposals in the consultant's report. The
L Committee is also to monitor cost reduction
- efforts and to report its findings prior to
1 January 1, 1977 (Res. No. 37, Acts of
1976). |
