more than two full consecutive terms. The
Board for the Thomas B. Finan Hospital
Center will not be appointed until this
center in Western Maryland will be open
for occupancy in 1978.
Members of the Boards must be citizens
of the State, residents of the county or City
of Baltimore, as the case may be, in the
region served by each facility, and known
for their interest in civic and public affairs
and their concern about the care of the
mentally ill, mentally retarded or chron-
ically ill. Each Board elects its own officers.
The Advisory Boards serve in an advisory
capacity to the facility. The Board advises
the Superintendent in the determination of
the hospital goals and assists in the evalua-
tion of the achievement of such goals. In
addition, the Board advises the Superin-
tendent with respect to hospital facilities,
programs and policies, and makes recom-
mendations concerning the annual budget.
The Boards also assume the leadership in
developing community understanding of the
needs of the individuals served (Code 1957,
1971 Repl. Vol., 1975 Supp., Art. 43, sec.
603; 1972 Repl. Vol., 1975 Supp., Art. 59,
sec. 32A).
