The Department is to investigate and assemble information pertinent to the economic de- velopment and industrial opportunities and economic resources of the State; encourage location of new industrial enterprises in the State and expansion of present enterprises; encourage development of recreational areas and encourage tourist business in the State; make the public aware of the State's historical background and progress; and generally advertise the State and disseminate information. The Department consists of the following agencies, commissions, boards, authorities, trusts, and divisions: Board of Review, Maryland membership unit of the Southern Inter- state Nuclear Board, Maryland Advisory Commission on Atomic Energy, Division of Economic Development, Maryland membership unit of the Appalachian Regional Com- mission, Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority, Maryland Commission for Latin American Affairs, Development Credit Corporation, Community Development Administration, Division of Research, Division of Local and Regional Development, Division of News and Publications, Division of Administrative Services, Maryland Hous- ing Fund, Codes Administration, Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland Bicentennial Commission, Commission on Afro-American History and Culture, Maryland Arts Council, St. Mary's City Commission, Commission on Indian Affairs, and the Governor's Consult- ing Committee for the National Register of Historic Places in Maryland (Code 1957, 1971 Repl.
