648 MARYLAND MANUAL ELECTORAL VOTE Maryland has ten electoral votes, which were cast for Richard M. Nixon and Spiro T. Agnew, at the meeting of the electors held in Annapolis, December 18,1972. PRIMARY ELECTIONS By Chapter 560, Acts of 1969, the date of holding the primary elections by the political parties was changed to the second Tuesday after the first Monday in September for candidates for State offices and the State Central Committees. For elections by each political party in which national conventions are to be held for the nomination of President and Vice President, elections are to be held the third Tuesday in May (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 33, sec. 6-2). QUALIFICATIONS FOR VOTING IN MARYLAND In order to vote in Maryland, a person must be a citizen of the United States and at least eighteen years of age. He must have been a resident of the State and County or legislative district of Baltimore City, in which he may offer to vote, as of the time for closing of regis- tration, next proceeding the election. He must not have been con- victed of larceny or infamous crime, unless pardoned by the Governor; not convicted of buying or selling votes. No person shall be registered as a qualified voter if he is under guardianship for mental disability. He must also have been registered with the Board of Supervisors of Elections in the County or the legislative district of Baltimore City in which he resides (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 33, sec. 3-4, and Amendment 26 to the U. S. Constitution). |
