37 Created by Ordinance 438 on February 8, 1965. The 21 Commission members are appointed
by the Mayor and City Council. One member represents the Board of School Commissioners
and serves for a 1-year term. Ten members are members of groups served by the Community
Action Program and reside in neighborhoods in which the programs will be carried out. These
members serve for 1-year terms. All other commissioners serve for 3-year terms. The Executive
Director is appointed by the Mayor on the recommendation of the Commission.
38 The Department of Public Works was reorganized in 1968. The Bureaus' of Engineering,
Consumer Services, Utility Operations, Inspection, and General Services were created by Ord-
inance 1097 of 1967. Each bureau head is appointed by the Mayor. The Director is appointed
by the Mayor. Each division head is appointed from within the Civil Service system.
33 Ordinance 421 of 1956 gives the Superintendent of Markets wide powers in regard to the
operation and supervision of City Markets.
40 Composed of 6 members, 2 appointed by the Mayor for 2-year terms, 3 ex officio. The
Mayor designates the Chairman.
41 Consists of 5 commissioners appointed by the Mayor for 6-year terms. The Mayor desig-
nates the Chairman. The Commission appoints the Director from the Civil Service roster,
<2 Composed of 5 members appointed by the Mayor for 5-year staggered terms.
43 Composed of 7 members, 6 appointed by the Mayor for 5-year staggered terms, 2 ex officio.
Created by Ch. 662, Acts of 1955 as amended by Ch. 845, Acts of 1957. The Authority is to be
terminated as provided in Ch. 145, Acts of 1967.
