STATE-AIDED SCHOOLS, SOCIETIES AND ASSOCIATIONS
Special Schools
MARYLAND SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND, 3601 Taylor Avenue, Bal-
timore 21236; Herbert J. Wolfe, Superintendent; established
1853; serving the educational needs of the visually impaired and
visually impaired multi-handicapped students, kindergarten
through the twelfth grade. Tuition students are accepted from
Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia and New Jersey. Ap-
propriations: 1973, $2,074,383; 1974, $2,301,047.
Societies and Associations
MARYLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 201 W. Monument Street,
Baltimore 21201; Samuel Hopkins, President; P. William Filby,
Director; library of books, documents, manuscripts and maps,
museum. Darnall Young Peoples' Museum of Maryland History.
Special grant from Department of Economic and Community
Development for Sunday openings and special programs, $15,000.
Appropriations; 1973, $36,650; 1974, $40,650.
THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER FLAG HOUSE ASSOCIATION,
INC., 844 East Pratt Street, Baltimore 21202; National Historic
Landmark. Jean Hofmeister, President; Mrs. Hugh MacD. Martin,
Director. Flag House and adjacent 1812 War Museum. Publica-
tions: THE PATRIOT; BANNER; Newsletter; Historical and
educational folders, and National Flag Week brochures; as well
as Battle of Baltimore (1814) Maps. Annual Reports. Appro-
priations: 1973, $10,000; 1974, $10,500.
MARYLAND ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, 119 S. Howard Street,
Baltimore 21201; Abraham Bates, Acting Director; established
in 1797 for the purpose of collecting, preserving, disseminating,
and interpreting scientific information for the people of Maryland.
Appropriations: 1973, $70,000; 1974, $70,000.
MARYLAND STATE FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION. The funds ap-
propriated are the State's share of the pension fund for disabled
firemen or for widows and children of deceased firemen (Chapter
260, Acts of 1935) (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 38A). Ap-
propriations: 1973, $50,000; 1974, $57,590.
CIVIL AIR PATROL, MARYLAND WING. The funds appropriated
are to pay the State's contribution to the Maryland Wing, Civil
Air Patrol, to be used for basic operating expenses. Appropria-
tions: 1973, $77,390; 1974, $85,903.
