Office of the Governor, State House, Annapolis 21404 The Governor appointed this Council by Executive Order in 1970 to succeed the Governor's Science Resources Advisory Council. It is to provide the Governor with objective scientific or technological advice as he deems necessary and appropriate, identify broad future problems in all fields to which scientific approaches should be applied and to formulate recommendations to alleviate said problems, and defines problem areas to which committees could find solutions or recommen- dations for action. The Council is also to define scientific areas where additional research or the analysis of data is badly needed, to review the available resources to perform such analysis, and to recommend the approach to be used. The Council is further to improve scientific education, including identification of well-defined problem areas for studies to be performed by graduate students, particularly those studies which will be of value to the State, to act as a liaison with scientists of other states or agencies in coordinating approaches to common scientific problems, and to provide scientific and technological advice to the principal Executive Departments, at the Governor's re- quest or with his approval. The Committee is also responsible for reviewing and approving State- wide office area requirements and requests by all State agencies. |
