Board of Education. In any such appeal, the school shall have the burden of establishing that the decision of the Superintendent was in error. (f) Assistance under the program shall be available only with respect to children in grades 1-12, or the equivalent thereof, in schools offering a general educational program, as determined by the Superintendent. 217. Funding of Program. Each year the Board shall estimate the amount needed to fund the program for the ensuing fiscal year, and shall submit the estimate to the officials charged with preparing the Executive Budget. 218. Amount of Scholarships. Subject to the provisions of Section 220 of this article, the amount of scholarship which may be awarded to any child under the program shall be the lesser of (a) the actual cost of tuition charged by the nonpublic school in which the child is enrolled, and (b) where the gross income of the parent of the child was (i) $5,999 or less: $200.00 (ii) $6,000 to $7,999: $150.00 (iii) $8,000 to $9,999: $100.00 (iv) $10,000 to $11,999: $75.00 219. Administrative Procedures. (a) The Board shall, subject to the provisions of this subtitle, promulgate such rules and prepare such forms as may be required for the administration of the program. (b) Application forms for scholarships shall be sent by the Board to participating schools, and shall include provi- sion. for (i) certification by the school of the enrollment of the student for whom an application is made; (ii) certifica- tion by the student's parents of their gross income; and (iii) such other information as may be reasonably required by the Board. The participating schools shall assist parents of students applying for scholarships in completing the appli- cation forms accurately and expeditiously. Completed appli- cation forms shall be filed with the Board on or before September 1. |
