Johnson, Executive Secretary Lucille Beach, Secretary I 2200 Somerville Road, Annapolis 21401 Telephone: 267-5033 The Maryland Agricultural Commission, created by Chapter 552, Acts of 1968, succeeded the Agricultural Advisory Board established by Chapter 470, Acts of 1961. The Commission was established to formulate and make proposals for the advancement of Maryland agriculture by serving as an advisory body to the State Board of Agriculture on matters pertaining to agriculture. The Commission consists of nineteen members of whom four serve ex officio. These four must be the Vice President of the University of Maryland for Agricultural Affairs, and three members of the Committee on Agricultural Activities of the State Board of Agricul- ture. The remaining fifteen members are appointed by the Governor for three-year terms as follows: two representing the dairy segment; two representing the poultry segment; two the livestock segment; two the tobacco segment, one the nursery segment; one the horticul- ture segment; one the field crop segment; one the vegetable segment; one from the veterinary profession; one nominated by the Maryland State Grange; one nominated by the Maryland Farm Bureau; and two appointed at large from services related to agriculture. No ap- pointed person may serve more than two consecutive terms. The Board selects its own officers and is responsible for liaison between segments of the agricultural industry and the executive and the legislative branches of the State and Federal governments (Code 1957, 1969 Repl.
