two sources of revenue comprise the bulk of the estimated $115,000,000 which the Motor Vehicle Administration will collect in fiscal year 1972. The Automobile Dealer/Salesman License Service administers the Dealer Licensing law of the State. By Chapter 536, Acts of 1969. this Division also licenses auto wreckers and scrap processors in the State. Division of Field Services Clifton E. Luber, Director In an effort to decentralize the Motor Vehicles Administration's services to residents of the State, its first regional office was opened in Salisbury on November 17, 1969, to serve residents of the Eastern Shore. Since then, the Administration has opened additional regional offices in Baltimore City, Cumberland, Hagerstown, Rockville, and Waldorf. The Administration plans to open other offices in Cecil County and in Prince George's County at a later date. These branches offer a full range of Motor Vehicle Administration services, including: vehicle registration, license review hearings, driver rehabilitation clinics, title and driver record information and tag sales. All offices except Baltimore City also offer driver license testing facilities. General Services Leroy W. Elgin, Jr„ Deputy Administrator Division of Finance and Statistics The Division of Finance and Statistics is responsible for the major accounting activities of the Motor Vehicle Administration. It pre- pares the annual budget and maintains the appropriation and dis- bursing ledgers. The Division also compiles the statistical information essential to revenue distribution and highway research as well as the Administration's annual report. Division of Data Processing Robert A. Cox, Director The Division of Data Processing maintains currently updated rec- ords within its Computer Center on over 2,000,000 Maryland drivers and over 1,700,000 motor vehicles. Associated with the driver file is a driver conviction file housing updated information from uniform arrest tickets, Baltimore City arrest tickets, Departmental actions, and cur- rent point system status. This file contains over 4,000,000 entries. Other computerized files include suspensions, revocations, special restrictions, stolen cars and arrest ticket accountability data. The development of the Data Processing Center, in addition to improving the recordkeeping at the Department, provides the Depart- ment with an excellent tool with which to conduct research and to test the effectiveness of existing motor vehicle programs, plus facili- tating the coordination with various Federal and State agencies in the development, of National Highway Safety and other important programs. Division of Departmental Services George E. Benton, Director This Division encompasses a variety of supporting activities neces- sary to the overall functioning of the Motor Vehicle Administration. It includes the Communications Section, the Print Shop and the Mail Section.
