The Board of Examiners for Hearing Aid Dealers, created by Chap- ter 634, Acts of 1969, consists of five members appointed by the Gov- ernor with the advice and consent of the Senate for five-year terms. The Governor designates the Chairman. One member must be licensed to practice medicine in Maryland and hold a certificate of qualification from the American Board of Otolaryngology. One member must hold a certificate of competence in audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association and have had at least four years of paid work experience in audiology prior to his appointment. The remaining three members must be persons experienced in the sale of hearing aids and be recommended by the Maryland members of the Hearing Aid Dealers Association of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Delaware. The Board registers and regulates persons furnishing hearing aids. It also tests audiometric testing equipment and inspects the facilities of persons who practice the fitting of hearing aids (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 43, sees. 725-742). Two members must be from the con- struction industry, one from the field of finance and two from the general public. The Commission licenses' and regulates contractors and salesmen in the home improvement industry, investigates com- plaints filed by homeowners against improvement companies and takes administrative actions where violations of the law are found (Code 1957, 1968 Repl. The Board consists of three members appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Secretary of Licens- ing and Regulation for four-year terms. One member must be a duly qualified and licensed veterinarian and one member must be an officer of a County Humane Society. The Board selects its own Chairman. All members serve without compensation.
