promulgated by the Motor Vehicles Administration (Code 1957, 1970
Repl. Vol., 1971 Supp., Art. 661/2, sees. 13-102).
Reports of motor vehicle accidents investigated by any law enforce-
ment officer in the State must be forwarded to the State Police. The
Agency is charged with the responsibility of analyzing and preparing
its statistical tables and charts based on these reports.
Chapter 452, Acts of 1968 provides for the administration of the
State Aid for Police Protection Fund by the Superintendent of the
State Police (Code 1957, 1968 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 15A,
sees. 35-39).
The newest area of State Police responsibility is Aviation Section.
Helicopters are maintained on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to
effect the evacuation of seriously injured from highway collisions in
conformity with National Highway Safety Standard 311 (Medivac
Program). Other missions include search and rescue, criminal in-
vestigation support, traffic control and support in disasters and civil
disturbances.
The Agency maintains radio and teletype communications between
its own installations and those of other law enforcement agencies
within the State, and it participates in a national teletype network.
The State Police also operates a Police Academy for the training
of its personnel. These facilities are available to all other law enforce-
ment agencies throughout the State.
The Agency carries on its field operations through barracks, posts,
and detachments, located throughout the State as follows:
