The Maryland Agricultural Commission, created by Chapter 652,
Acts of 1968, succeeded the Agricultural Advisory Board established
by Chapter 470, Acts of 1961. The Commission was established to
formulate and make proposals for the advancement of Maryland
agriculture by serving as an advisory body to the State Board of
Agriculture on matters pertaining to agriculture.
The Commission consists of nineteen members of whom four serve
ex officio. These four must be the Vice President of the University
of Maryland for Agricultural Affairs, and three members of the
Committee on Agricultural Activities of the State Board of Agricul-
ture. The remaining fifteen members are appointed by the Governor
for three year terms as follows: two representing the dairy segment;
