The Governor appointed this seventeen-member Commission in 1969
to study the effect of nuclear power plants on water and air. The
Commission is to conduct an in-depth probe of the environmental
effects of nuclear power plants with particular emphasis on radio-
logical contamination and thermal pollution. The Commission is to
report at a later date.

study the problems and objections of various groups relating to the
practice of optometry. The Commission is to report recommendations
for proposed changes in the optometry subtitle of Article 43 of the
Annotated Code no later than November 1, 1969.

The Governor appointed this special Commission in 1967 at the
request of the General Assembly. The Commission is to make a com-
prehensive study of the public library systems throughout the State
with particular reference to the current and emerging library needs
and the respective responsibilities of the State and local subdivisions.
The Commission includes representatives of the General Assembly,
the larger public library systems, a County Commissioner, the Director
of the Division of Library Extension of the State Department of
Education, and interested citizens. The Commission is to report to the
1970 session of the General Assembly (Res. No. 40, Acts of 1968).
