MARYLAND MANUAL 211 The Insured Workers' Rehabilitation Committee, created by Chap- ter III, Acts of 1960, consists of six members appointed by the Gov- ernor to advise the Workmen's Compensation Commission on all phases of the rehabilitation of injured workers, including those whose claims are ultimately denied or those who are held not to be in the coverage of the laws relating to Workmen's Compensation. The Com- mittee consists of the Chairman of the Workmen's Compensation Com- mission and the Assistant State Superintendent of Vocational Re- habilitation, both of whom serve as ex officio members, and one employee, one employer, a representative of a casualty insurance company and a registered physician. The Governor designates the Chairman, and the committee members serve for six-year terms (Code 1957, 1965 Repl. Vol., Art. 77, sec. 295). COMMISSIONERS OF THE STATE ACCIDENT FUND Chairman: Walter E. Preston Street, Baltimore 21201 Telephone: 383-3010 The State Accident Fund, originally a part of the State Industrial Accident Commission, was established as a separate agency by Chap- ter 604, Acts of 1941. It is directed by a five-man Board, appointed by the Governor for five-year terms, me. term expiring each year. The Board elects its officers annually. It administers the State Acci- dent Fund, which is the State's Workmen's Compensation Insurance Carrier. Through the Fund, employers may carry insurance for the payment of claims that may arise from accidents and injuries to their employees as allowed under the Workmen's Compensation Law. All expenses of the agency are paid out of income from premiums paid and interest on Fund investment. The State Treasury is prepaid for operating expenses of the Fund (Code 1957, 1964 Repl.
