Members representing the health professions: Arthur T. Hall, M.D. 1971; Edward P. Radford, M.D., 1971. The Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board, originally established by Chapter 44, Acts of 1966, as the Occupational Safety Advisory Board, adopted its present name by Chapter 630, Acts of 1968. The Board consists of seven members all of whom are appointed by the Commissioner of Labor and Industry with the approval of the Governor for six-year terms. Two of the appointed members represent industry, two represent labor, two represent the health professions, and one, who serves as Chairman, represents the general public. Both of the members representing the health professions must be recom- mended by the State Department of Health. The Commissioner of Labor and Industry serves as an ex officio member of the Board. The Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board formulates and proposes to the Commissioner of Labor and Industry such reasonable rules and regulations, or modifications, amendments or repeals of rules and regulations, for the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases in every employment or place of employment in Maryland except those subject to the regulatory authority of the Public Service Commission (Code 1967, 1964 Repl. Vol., 1968 Supp., Art. 89, sees. 29,31A, and 32). Minimum Wage Advisory Committee Chairman: Albert J. Glover, 1971 Employer representatives: Herbert Goldstein, 1971; Leonard H. Hudson, 1973; William F. Holin, 1976. Employee representatives: Harry V. Brill, 1971; Thomas M. Bradley, 1973; Ruth Haynes, 1976. Public members: Frederic A. Jackson, 1973; Mrs. Sherman Ross, 1976. The Minimum Wage Advisory Committee, established by Chapter 697, Acts of 1966, consists of nine members appointed by the Governor for six-year terms. Three of the appointed members are representa- tives of employers, three are representatives of employees, and three represent the general public. One of the public representatives is designated by the Governor as Chairman. The Committee assists the Commissioner of Labor and Industry in the formulation of rules and regulations necessary to implement the State minimum wage law. The Committee must hold public hearings every two years for the purpose of reviewing current regulations and making recommendations for change with regard to rates, coverage or administrative regulations (Code 1967, 1964 Repl. Vol., 1968 Supp., ch. 100, sees. 81-93). |
