MARYLAND MANUAL our wildlife extension programs in all regions has shown excellent results. The Department produces 108,236 adult trout, weighing 47,383 pounds, at its Albert Powell Trout Hatchery in Washington County and Bear Creek Hatchery in Garrett County, along with 227,000 fingerling fish stocked in the small streams and trout lakes. Federal hatcheries provide 66,000 trout weighing 27,000 pounds each year. Warm water inland fishery programs consist of the rehabilitation of lakes, ponds, and streams by chemical or mechanical means, and cor- rectional stocking of deteriorated waters with fingerling or adult channel catfish, bluegills and bass. Fingerling walleyes have been experimentally planted in a large reservoir to develop better fishing.

One member is appointed on the recommendation of the Maryland State Grange; one on the recommen- dation of the Maryland Farm Bureau; one shall have practical expe- rience in the lumbering industry; one shall be a resident of Garrett County; and three members shall be appointed for their general interest in the advancement of forests, parks, and recreation in the State.
